Turn yearly goals into daily steps
How to break a yearly goal into quarter, month, week and day without drowning in planning.

Contents
Yearly goals rarely fail because of willpower. They fail because nobody knows what they mean today. The fix is a chain: every goal sits under exactly one bigger goal.
Step 1: One sentence for the year
Write the goal so that on December 31 you can answer yes or no. “Live healthier” is not a goal. “Lose 10 kg and keep it off” is.
Step 2: The quarter as a checkpoint
Split the year into four stages. Each stage needs a result you can verify. Three months is long enough for progress and short enough to stay honest.
Step 3: Month, week, day
- Month: the amount you actually manage, not the one that sounds good.
- Week: two to four things that pay into the month.
- Day: one action you can tick off today.
Start at the bottom and you get busy days without direction. Start at the top and you get direction without action. The chain is both.
